How to have fun around the Mission

SF Weed Week’s Opening Night takes place in the ever lively and renowned Mission District on April 13 for Sunset Connect’s highly anticipated premier of new preroll flavors, hosted by Mission Cannabis Club. Eats: 

Taqueria El Farolito—A no-frills taqueria with multiple Mission locations serving some of the best burritos in the city for nearly 40 years. Burritos are to SF what pizza is to NYC, so make sure to try one of the best to do it. Open late and almost always (charmingly) hectic, make sure to bring a sativa-boosted high and cash, since they don’t take card. 

Rosamunde Sausage Grill—Come to this hole-in-the-wall spot for housemade sausages on buns and a top notch tap beer selection. Need another reason? Since they’re a sponsor, say “SF Weed Week” for a discount when ordering. 

Tartine Bakery—One of SF’s most iconic bakeries, serving up croissants so good that after one bite, you’ll be saying ‘pardon my french.’ But be warned—you’ll be waiting in line for quite a while if you don’t time your visit right.

Drinks:

Buddy—Cozy and chill, this is a casual wine bar. You can try your French at the fancier varietals, but you’ll also feel ok asking the bartender to ’just give me something good, Buddy.’

Latin American Club—Come here (with cash!) for strong margaritas known for turning strangers into friends for over 30 years. 

Dalva—Remember when you could get a well-made cocktail without talking to someone with a PhD in mixology and spending $25 dollars? This place does.

Sights:

Dolores Park—A lively park offering a great skyline and people watching for all ages. One of the only places you can see both a tech worker playing spikeball and a drag queen selling magic mushroom chocolate bars. It’s a wonderfully concentrated display of SF’s beauty and weirdness, so soak it all in.  

Balmy Alley—Local artists turned this stretch of road between 24th and 25th streets into a rotating art gallery featuring entire buildings painted with vibrant colors and a myriad of social themes. It’s a sensory experience perfect for decompressing after an SF Weed Week event.

The Roxie—This independent arthouse theater features movies from all across the world. Want to see the Moroccan Scorsese’s most recent film? Head to the Roxie. 

Shopping:

Gravel and Gold—A funky boutique shop selling the quintessential zany apparel, handbags, and jewelry of San Francisco. Enjoy and support this independent, woman-owned shop and find something that fits any budget, starting at $5. 

Purple Star MD—One of SF’s best known and most affordable dispensaries has daily deals and humble approach to getting the best bud for a reasonable price. It’s also located on one of the neighborhood’s buzziest block.

Serendipity Gift Cards and Gifts—Come here to find a handmade card, magnet, or handicraft from local artists. A memento of SF Weed Week in case your memory is a little hazy.

Getting to and from there:

MUNI:

Given its iconic reputation and city-wide draw, many MUNI lines run to the heart of the Mission. Catch the 22 bus from the Fillmore or hop on the 14 which takes you up and down Mission Street. The 48 takes you from the Sunset and Noe Valley down the main 24th Street artery, and the 24 will drop you just a few blocks away from the main action.

BART:

Catch any BART line to 16th and Mission or 24th and Mission, the latter of which is minutes away from Mission Cannabis Club.

Car/Taxi/Rideshare:

The Mission is very much a walking neighborhood, with narrow streets and very little parking, so order a rideshare if possible or take transit.
